Are you wondering how to give your house curb appeal? Perhaps you’ve given thought to re-decorating, re-tiling, or converting your home, but rest assured, there’s an easier way! Home exterior cleaning can breathe new life into the look of your house, improving the market value, and bringing you more joy.

Improving My Home Aesthetics

I found that improving my home aesthetics started with getting some help. I was overwhelmed by the daunting task of cleaning up my home and decided to hire Umbrella Property Services. I wanted the best property maintenance services in the Vancouver area, and I was not disappointed. I was amazed at what a huge difference it made in the overall appearance of my house. I found myself wanting to have people over just because inside, I was beaming with pride. Here are the key things they did that made the biggest difference:

Gutter Cleaning

Can I just say how much I hate cleaning my gutters? For one thing, every time I climb onto a ladder, I feel like the ground is a million miles away. My gutters were so bad that baby trees were sprouting in them. Thankfully, Umbrella Property Services did an excellent job of getting them clean with their thorough gutter cleaning services.

Pressure Washing

I initially thought I needed to repaint my entire house because it was so dirty. It turned out that all it needed was a good pressure washing! Years’ worth of dirt had built up, obscuring the paint and leaving my home in a sad, sad state. Once my house was pressure washed, it looked like a whole new home! I wanted to have people over. I was so proud of my house’s new look.

Painting Services

While I didn’t need to repaint my whole house, I wanted to update my door. Making your door pop is a great way to help guests find your home. Choose a bold colour that enhances the other colours of your home and allows your door to stand out. Prepare to be amazed at what a difference painting your door is going to make.

Window Cleaning

Ugh. Windows, am I right? For one thing, I am 5’2″ tall, so cleaning my own windows feels like trying to be Spider-Man. Window cleaning services will forever be at the top of my list for ways to improve overall house appearance.

Once Umbrella Property Services made my house look new, it was time to bust out my DIY skills to make my yard look better. I filled up my water bottle, put my sunhat and work gloves on, and got to work. The week after I finished my yard, someone made me an offer on my house, and it’s not even for sale. Here are the ways to make your yard look better that worked for me:

Lawn Care

Perhaps this one seems obvious, but there’s more to lawn care than cutting the grass. Make sure to keep your lawn watered, leaves raked up, and weeds pulled. If your lawn seems to be dying back, it may be time to fertilize. If you live somewhere that grass has a hard time taking hold, consider artificial turf or shrub beds instead.

Lighting

Nothing makes a house more inviting than beautiful lighting. Make sure that your porch light is a warm light instead of a glaring white light, and be sure to clean off any cobwebs and dust. Think about lining walkways with solar-powered lights, saving you money because they require no external power source.

Mailbox Makeover

Depending on whether you need a vertical mailbox or one attached to the wall, expect to spend between $50 and $200 to purchase a new mailbox. Go for a stylish modern look that compliments the paint and style of your home. A new mailbox can make a difference in your home’s curb appeal, plus it will bring you joy every time you check the mail.

Door Décor

Your door is the first thing guests see when they arrive at your home. Greet them with a classy, personalized touch by adding seasonal elements to your door. We’ve all seen the Christmas wreath, but wreaths of vine tucked with flowers in the spring or acorns and pinecones in the fall are a magnificent way to adorn your door.

Investing In Your Home

I’ve found that the money I’ve spent improving my home’s curb appeal is worth it for the relief and happiness I feel when I pull into the driveway after work and see how amazing my home looks. I’m not planning on selling any time soon, but I know that I’ll have an easy time putting my house on the market when I do.

Lastly, have fun! I know it seems like a lot of hard work, but this is your home. I’m sure there was a time in your life where you dreamed of becoming a homeowner. Improving the appearance of your home means being more than a homeowner; it means being a proud homeowner. Your dreams have become a reality, and this is your chance to treasure and care for the object of your desires.
